Viber

Like Telegram, you can set this one up yourself.

If you already have a Viber bot

The token is in the Viber app on your phone: More → Settings → Bots → your bot → Edit Info → Your app key. Copy that.

Viber calls the same value two different things. It is "Your app key" in the

phone app and the "authentication token" on the admin panel — one value, two

names. You do not need the admin panel if you have the app.

If you do not have one yet

  1. Go to partners.viber.com and sign in with your

Viber number, or use More → Settings → Bots in the Viber app.

  1. Create a bot account — you will be asked for a name, a category and a logo.
  2. Copy the authentication token (the app key).

The admin panel lists the bots administered by **the Viber number you signed in

with**. A bot you cannot find there is usually a bot administered by a different

number — it is not gone, and the app key on your phone works either way.

Connecting it

  1. In Parrot go to Channels → Viber → Connect.
  2. Paste the app key. That is all Parrot needs — it asks Viber which account

the key belongs to and registers the webhook for you. The display name is optional and only changes what you see in your own inbox.

  1. Message your bot from Viber. It appears in the Inbox.

As on Telegram, a Viber bot can only reply to people who have messaged it first,

and a brand-new bot has no followers. Open your bot in Viber and send it a

message to test, and share its link so customers can start the conversation.

Your app key is a password for the account — anyone holding it can send messages as your business and redirect where its messages are delivered. Keep it out of screenshots and chat threads.

What Viber tells us

Unlike Telegram, Viber reports what happened to a message you sent, so the inbox shows Delivered and Seen on a Viber thread rather than stopping at Sent. It also reports a send that failed after it was accepted — someone who has uninstalled Viber, for instance — so a reply that never arrived is marked as such instead of looking delivered.

Viber also sends the customer's name and photo, so a new Viber conversation arrives with a real name on it.

Disconnecting

Channels → Viber → Disconnect tells Viber to stop delivering as well as switching the channel off here. Reconnecting points it back at us.

Your bot has one webhook address, and it can point at one place. If you connect the same bot to a second Parrot workspace — or to anything else — messages follow whichever was connected last. Use a separate bot for testing.
